About
Carlota Vieira
Freelance Paintings Conservator based in Lisbon, working both locally and internationally.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Art Conservation and a Master's degree in Paintings Conservation and Restoration from NOVA University Lisbon. My professional experience includes traineeships at leading conservation institutions, including Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (SRAL, Maastricht), the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNAA, Lisbon), and the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA, Brussels). I also worked as an Assistant Conservator at the Hamilton Kerr Institute (University of Cambridge) and have collaborated with several private conservation studios in Lisbon.
My practice focuses on the conservation and restoration of paintings, with experience in condition assessment, technical examination, documentation and exhibition support. I work with paintings across different periods, materials and techniques, combining practical conservation with careful observation and research to understand each object and its condition.
